David Morrissey is set to join The Walking Dead as fan fave the Governor. The British actor will join the series when it returns for its 13-episode third season later this year.

The Governor is already known to readers of The Walking Dead comic series. He's the tyrannical leader of a group of survivors whom Rick and his gang chance upon.

Looks like Morrissey's character is being set up as the big villain in season three. Jon Berthnal, who plays nutjob Shane Walsh, was recently announced as co-headlining Frank Darabont's, soon-to-shoot, LA Noir, suggesting that his Walking Dead character will either be shot dead or become zombie food in the coming episodes.

Meanwhile, True Blood actress, Rutina Weasley (Tara Thornton in the vampire show), has also been rumoured to be joining The Walking Dead as the katana-wielding Michonne.
