Ben Browder

Ben Browder, an actor who only seems to say yes to science fiction shows, has been cast in the new series.

Most famous for the quirky SF drama, Farscape, and a lengthy stint in Stargate SG-1, Browder will be appearing in the currently lensing, Toby Whithouse-penned episode. The Who crew upped camp to Spain last week to begin filming the story, which is reportedly set in the American Old West. Saul (Upstairs, Downstairs, Micro Men) Metzstein is directing. Yee-ha!

The episode is being recorded in the Almeria region of Spain, where Sergio Leone filmed many of his famed "spaghetti westerns". The area houses a permanent Wild West set.

So, what else do we know? Well, Whithouse's story is currently scheduled to air as episode three, while episode two has been written by Chris Chibnall. We also know the second block of filming will cover two episodes written by Steven Moffat and will be directed by Nick Hurran (The Girl Who Waited, The God Complex).

Meanwhile, Gavin & Stacey and Upstairs, Downstairs man, Adrian Scarborough, has been cast - as someone named Kahler-Jex - in the new series.
