Okay, so we've been promised a classic monster for series 7, and the good money seemed to be on the Zygons. But here at Fan Can HQ we can exclusively reveal that it will be the Ice Warriors who will be returning next season.

A particularly eagle-eared member of The Fan Can writing team happened to be on a train this past weekend, and was sat opposite a particularly high-ranking member of the series 7 production team. The conversation he overheard suggests that they've been given a new series makeover, and that the eyes of the redesigned monsters look "like 1970s sunglasses."

Although they were casually referenced in The Waters of Mars, this will be the first sighting of the hissing Mars thugboys since 1974's The Monster of Peladon. They were due to be revived in 1986, in the aborted season 23 story, Mission to Magnus. It was adapted by Big Finish in 2009.

Apparently, the sculpting process of the monster costumes has started, so it shouldn't be too long before the Ice Warrior episode/episodes begin lensing.
